Nature and location

Milíkov lies on the southwestern edge of the Slavkovský les, about 3 km from the main road between Cheb and Mariánské Lázně. Part of the municipality lies within the Slavkovský les Protected Landscape Area. This includes zones II and III in forested areas and zone IV in built-up areas. The Těšovské pastviny natural monument consists of two parts within the municipality of Milíkov.

An easy walking route, approximately 3 km in total, leads from Milíkov to the nearby Milíkovská pískovna and then to the ponds behind the village in the direction of Těšov; along the way, it passes through a wetland. Amphibian and reptile catching, explanations and demonstrations take place in the pond system of Milíkovská pískovna.

Culture and history

The half-timbered Cheb-style farmstead in Milíkov is open to the tourist public on a restricted operating basis. The local farm museum presents rural furnishings, household, craft and agricultural equipment, as well as smaller agricultural machinery. The exhibits date from the second half of the 19th century to the present day.

The Church of St Simon and St Jude is a single-nave late Classicist church with a square presbytery and a prismatic western tower. Its present appearance was shaped by alterations carried out between 1818 and 1820.

The farm exhibition documents the changing use of the agricultural complex: initially as an independent residential and farming unit until 1945, followed by changes resulting from the expulsion of the original inhabitants, its subsequent use as a residence until the end of their lives, and its later use as a recreational property for the popular tradition of rural holidays.

Hiking and traditions

The traditional hiking event “Kynšperská jarní patnáctka” follows a route leading to the half-timbered farmstead No. 18 in Milíkov. At the traditional Milíkovské dožínky harvest festival, visitors can try out old agricultural activities for themselves.
