Privlaka: Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nature and Coast

Privlaka is situated on a sandy peninsula that stretches for several kilometres between the Bay of Nin and the Zadar Channel. On three sides, the town is surrounded by crystal-clear sand and shallow, warm sea.

A landscaped promenade begins directly at the Lučica in Privlaka. It runs westwards across almost the entire peninsula and offers views of the sunset.

Water and Activity

Thanks to the favourable, consistent wind from the Velebit mountains, Sabunike is considered one of Croatia’s best-known surfing destinations, alongside Bol on Brač. The area is particularly suitable for surfers and windsurfers in September and October.

The viewpoint in Sabunike is a photo spot reached via the long promenades during walks, and it is particularly inviting in the evening hours.

Anyone considering Privlaka as a travel destination can plan to rent an apartment there.

Culture and History

Privlaka is first mentioned in written documents in 1296 as a wine-growing settlement. The Church of St. Vitus was built in the 14th century and has been completely preserved. To this day, a service is held in the Church of St. Vitus in June on the feast day of the patron saint.

The Sokolar Well is the best known of Privlaka’s twelve surviving wells. It is associated with a legend about an unhappy love affair, which is mentioned in the first Croatian novel.

Traditions

Ludru is a traditional fishing method in Privlaka that has been passed down there from generation to generation for many decades. The tradition of the Sabunjari is connected with the laborious extraction of sand from the sea.

The traditional “Privlačka lignjijada” has been held in November for almost a decade. It has a sporting and humanitarian character and aims to preserve the traditional squid-fishing method known as Kosavica.

Food and Culture

At “Naši stari običaji”, guests can discover traditional songs and costumes performed by the Privlaka Cultural and Artistic Society and sample original traditional dishes from Privlaka, prepared as they used to be in the past.
