The sandy peninsula stretches between the Bay of Nin and the Zadar Channel, with kilometres of lagoons and fields. The well-maintained promenade begins at the harbour, runs westwards and extends across almost the entire peninsula. It therefore provides a clear geographical reference point for finding your way around Privlaka. Škrapavac offers a different focus: it has sandy beaches with shallow water suitable for the youngest swimmers.

Ludru and the Sabunjari: Local Traditions

For many decades, Ludru, a traditional fishing method, has been passed down from generation to generation in Privlaka. The Sabunjari of Privlaka were known for digging up sea sand and transporting it by hand in their boats. The two traditions have different emphases: Ludru represents a fishing method handed down through the generations, while the history of the Sabunjari is associated with working with sea sand and boats.

Festivals Throughout the Year

Religious and cultural events include the Feast of Saint Vitus. It is celebrated every year on 15 June and includes a church service in the chapel and a pilgrimage. In mid-July, the traditional “Noć privlačkih ribara i sabunjara” is held every summer. At this event, local restaurateurs present culinary specialities.

The “Privlačka noć” follows every summer on 4 August, bringing together the town’s culture, entertainment and food offerings. In November, the traditional “Privlačka lignjijada” takes place. It preserves the local Kosavica squid-fishing method and continues with the preparation of Dalmatian specialities. The Wider Setting: Pasman and Zadar County

The wider travel destination of Pasman offers a broader landscape than the Privlaka peninsula. At 1,300 kilometres, Zadar County has the longest coastline of all the Adriatic counties. Its landscape includes deeply indented coastlines, numerous islands, fertile plains, and karst and mountain scenery. Vransko Lake Nature Park is also in Zadar County and is an ornithological reserve for 251 bird species.
