Lukoran: Holiday apartments and houses

The bay and harbour of Lukoran are sheltered from most winds. Exceptions are winds from the western quadrant, the tramontana, and stronger jugo or maestral winds.

Trails and cycling route

The cultural and historical Staza Lukoran is marked with signposts and hiking markers. Martina's Path is unpaved and built entirely in the traditional dry-stone wall technique using local stone; the oldest sections of the path at the upper end date back to antiquity.

The Skriveno blago cycling route is 33.9 kilometres long. It passes the island of Ugljan's only football stadium and branches off towards Tala Bay in Mali Lukoran.

Culture and history

The Trpinjin cultural and historical complex is located on Trpinjin Hill, an estate featuring traditional dry-stone architecture. Parts of the estate are more than 2,000 years old and date back to Roman times.

The Baroque De Ponte summer residence in Mali Lukoran has been preserved in its original form. In the park behind the summer residence, the Croatian poet Petar Preradović courted Countess Paola De Ponte and on that occasion wrote the well-known Croatian wake-up song “Zora puca, bit će dana”.

According to tradition, the Gothic church and the building below Zmorašnji Lukoran were built by Egyptian monks in the 14th century.

Nature

At 288 metres, Mount Šćah above Turkija and Korčulanići is the highest peak on the island of Ugljan. The beaches of Lukoran are surrounded by centuries-old pine forest.

The Cezunj pond in Lukoran is locally called Plava suza because, due to the reflection of sunlight, it takes on a sky-blue colour at certain times of day.

Geographical location

The island of Ugljan can be reached by private boat or by boat or ferry operated by the Croatian shipping company Jadrolinija.
