Nature

The Velika Gubavica waterfall is located near the fortress of Zadvarje and less than a mile from it. It is 49 metres high.

History

The old church of Zadvarje was consecrated in 1774. Near Zadvarje, above Omiš and on the left bank of the Cetina, lies the HE Kraljevac hydropower plant. It began generating electricity in 1912 with two generating units and was, at the time, one of the largest hydropower plants in Europe in terms of size and production capacity.

The Pazar market tradition in Zadvarje is more than three centuries old. The market still takes place on Tuesdays; there is a covered market area for food.

Getting around

The official “Cetina blues-rock cycling trail” cycle route runs through Zadvarje. It is 68.3 kilometres long and has a total elevation gain of 983 metres.

The “Krški poligon” children's playground was completed as part of the Zadvarje promenade.
