Culture and history

Mramori (Kamenjak) preserves around 20 Stećci of various types and a cross-shaped stone. The site is located east of Lovreć, next to the Trilj–Imotski road. Mramori (Kamenjak) is a medieval cemetery with Stećci dating from the 15th century and lies along an old transport route.

The old Church of the Holy Spirit in Lovreć dates from 1755 and was consecrated on 7 July 1759. A cemetery with Stećci is located near the church. The main altar features a wooden painting of the Descent of the Holy Spirit dating from 1737. The first mass in the Church of Saint Ante in Lovreć was celebrated on 15 November 1933.

The ethnographic collection of the Lovreć school preserves everyday objects that illustrate traditional material culture in the Dalmatian hinterland.

Geographical setting

Bošnjakova gradina lies north of Lovreć at an elevation of 631 metres above sea level, above the hamlet of Bošnjaci. The site was initially built as a prehistoric hillfort with a large dry-stone wall. Later, a medieval fortification with a square tower was erected on Bošnjakova gradina.

Events

Ludrum Fest is an annual art festival held in summer at authentic locations throughout the municipality of Lovreć. The festival includes workshops attended by guests and artists, where visitors are introduced to local customs.

Vitanova Gomila in Lovreć is associated with a midsummer fire that is lit around Ivanjdan.
