Culture

Historical traces in Sičane include a Roman road station with remains of architecture, decorations and inscriptions, as well as a prehistoric fortification wall near Mojanka. Next to the Church of St Nicholas Tavelić is a medieval cemetery.

The Church of St Nicholas Tavelić is a simple concrete church built between 1971 and 1976; its bell tower was built later. It is the first church in the Archdiocese of Split-Makarska dedicated to Saint Nicholas Tavelić. Construction began shortly after Pope Paul VI canonised Saint Nicholas Tavelić on 6 June 1970. By the celebration of its 40th anniversary, the church had been completely renovated.

History

Dicmo is connected with the former Rera narrow-gauge railway. Its railway station was built in 1902, and the Sinj–Split line operated from 1903 to 1962; an Italian bunker stands next to the railway.

County road 6119 connects Dicmo Sičane with the D1 state road over a distance of 3.5 km. Local road 67034 connects Dicmo Sičane with Dicmo Kraj over 3.8 km.

Routes

The Municipality of Dicmo is a partner in the restoration and enhancement of the Our Lady of Sinj Route. The Our Lady of Sinj Trail follows the former Rera railway line towards Kukuzovac.

Camino

The Central Dalmatia Camino route is associated with Sićane; in the sequence of the route, Sićane lies between Kraj and Brnaze. On the Camino access route to Dicmo, the route runs close to a street lined with cafés and fast-food restaurants. In the area around Dicmo, there is a shop, a bakery, a café, a pharmacy and private accommodation for Camino pilgrims.
