Kijevo: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Kijevo is the endpoint of the Dinara Hiking Circuit: the route begins in Knin, crosses the Dinara, ends in Kijevo, and takes two to three days to complete.

Hiking and Nature

Kijevo has marked hiking trails with difficulty levels ranging from 1 to 5. When trekking, the trails lead over hills, through karst fields and small settlements; other paths lead to clearings. Dinara, Kozjak and Gnjat are locations for rock climbing in the Kijevo area. The springs of the Cetina allow for both recreational and competitive fishing.

The highest peak of Kozjak is Bat, at 1,206 metres. Kozjak also has a rock face about 150 metres high, considered a challenge for hikers and climbers.

Culture and History

The Church of St Michael in Kijevo is part of the Dinara Hiking Circuit and is considered a cultural and historical monument there. It was built on Glavica and consecrated in 1709. Villa Rustica, a Late Antique villa dating from the 3rd to 4th century, is located near Krstače.

The Old Croatian necropolis is located at the source of the Cetina. It was established in the 9th to 10th century and remained in use until the 15th to 16th century; it includes 1,162 excavated graves. More than 700 stećci have been preserved around the Church of St Spas. The remains of Glavaš Fortress stand on the slopes of the Dinara above the hamlet of Glavaš, which belongs to Kijevo.

Since July 2014, Kijevsko lito has continued to hold literary evenings in the hamlet of Bajani, attended by Croatian writers, poets and musicians. Kijevski književni susreti is a cultural event that brings together residents of Kijevo and guests at several locations.

Landscape and Surroundings

The Gradina fortress is located in the approximate vicinity of Kijevo. The caves Slavića Pećina, Todorovića Pećina and Babića Pećina are also located approximately in the surrounding area. Validžića Pećina is located in the vicinity of Kijevo. Veliki Prožlob is a mountain in the approximate vicinity of Kijevo.

Approximately three parks are located in the wider regional surroundings of Kijevo: Zagrabež and Gor. Kazanci form one park, Mramorje and Pržina form another, and Donje Peulje the third.
