Culture and History
Since 1954, the permanent exhibition housed in Trakošćan Castle has been open to visitors. It displays exhibits from the 15th to the 19th century in rooms with their original historic interior layout preserved.
The Chapel of the Holy Cross stands in Trakošćan Park and was built in 1754 in the Baroque Classicist style. It retains complete furnishings for a church interior.
Nature
Trakošćan Forest Park covers 450 hectares of protected natural area and combines diverse flora and fauna with the lake to create a landscaped park setting.
Lake Trakošćan was created in the mid-19th century by building a dam across the Bednja River and covers approximately 17 hectares. The Put vila nature trail runs for around five kilometres around Lake Trakošćan and begins at the foot of the castle, at the entrance to the complex.
Lake Trakošćan is a special fishing spot with carp, grass carp, pike, catfish and trout.
