Nature
Sovsko Lake lies at an elevation of 430 metres above sea level, covers approximately 3,600 square metres and is fed by its own spring. It was designated a significant landscape in 1989 and is also part of the Natura 2000 ecological network. The area supports fish, amphibians, reptiles and wetland birds.
The 556-metre educational trail at Sovsko Lake leads around the lake and includes two footbridges with resting areas. An additional educational trail runs from the lake through the forest to a meadow and connects the lake with a viewpoint. This trail is approximately one kilometre long, takes around one hour to walk, and has 15 information panels along the route.
The lake's surroundings are suitable for walks, visiting a wooden viewpoint on Jezero Brdo and family picnics. Sovsko Lake is known among visitors from across Slavonia and is associated with the municipality of ÄŒaglin.
In the ÄŒaglin municipal area, the Eko Center Latinovac holds workshops for children and young people in cooperation with primary and secondary schools. The centre also invites people to participate in its projects and workshops or to volunteer.
Culture
The parish church of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga in ÄŒaglin was built in 1765, enlarged in 1943 and became a parish church in 1945. The Church of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga was completely restored in 2000.
ÄŒaglin was first recorded in 1314 as an estate and in 1434 as a market town. Following earlier activities involving wood and stone, a sawmill was established in the 19th century.
Getting Around
The Požeška Kružna Ruta cycling route passes through Čaglin. The Požeško-Slavonska route reaches Čaglin via Vlatkovac and Kneževac. Čaglin is also located on the Slavonski Brod–Našice road and the Nova Kapela–Pleternica–Našice railway line.
Local Life
Dan Općine Čaglin is celebrated on 17 April and commemorates the date on which the municipal council was first constituted in 1993. The programme includes a market event featuring products from local associations and hunter's stew prepared for visitors.
