Blato lies next to a broad field where a seasonal wetland called Blatina appears as a small lake in winter and as a muddy watering hole in summer. It is described as the largest of the island’s three Blatinas and serves as a water source for irrigation.

Blato has a stone church dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, dating back to the 14th century. The local festival in honour of these saints takes place on 29 June.
