Buildings and History
In Veli Lošinj, the Kula combines historic architecture with a broad view of the town’s history. The freestanding round-tower complex in the centre was built in the 15th century. Its permanent exhibition covers the history of Veli Lošinj, its immediate surroundings and the southern part of the island of Lošinj, from prehistory to the present day. It particularly highlights maritime and tourism traditions.
In Osor, the Archaeological Collection is housed in a Renaissance building constructed in the first half of the 15th century. The building was protected as a cultural monument in 1964. The Nerezinac, a single-masted vessel, is an interpretation centre for the maritime heritage of the island of Lošinj and is anchored in front of the Apoksiomen Museum in Mali Lošinj.
