Hreljin was one of the nine Vinodol towns whose representatives signed the Vinodol Code in 1288. The Vinodol Code associated with Hreljin was written in the Glagolitic script.

History and Townscape
The Gradina of Hreljin is the ruin of a medieval town in western Vinodol. It was built on a steep cliff above Bakarac, the former port of the medieval town. Hreljin is also home to the Baroque parish church of Saint George. The town lies on the Karolina Road, which was built in 1732.
Paths and Discoveries
Put Gradine, a 1.6-kilometre-long themed promenade, leads from Hreljin to the medieval Hreljin Gradina. About 15 minutes along Put Gradine are three old water reservoirs known as Kalce or Lokve. The promenade also includes the playfully designed Frankopan Adventure.
Jurjeva is Hreljin's traditional celebration held around the feast of Saint George.
Routes in the Surrounding Area
The Frankopan Route connects Nova Kraljevica Castle with the old town of Hreljin. In the immediate surrounding area, it leads downhill from Hreljin Gradina through Mali Dol towards an old Roman road to Bakarac. The “Tracing Frankopan Footsteps” cycling tour also passes through the old town of Hreljin.

The Bakarske prezidi are located nearby, terraces where sparkling wine was traditionally produced.
