Culture

In the historic centre of Umag, the Museum of Umag is housed in a medieval defensive tower dating from the 14th century. Its archaeological department includes archaeological and numismatic collections. The museum also organises art exhibitions, lectures and workshops, and presents historical and archaeological exhibits.

The Church of Saint Roch is also one of the city's cultural attractions: it houses a cultural-tourist information point and a souvenir shop. The amphitheatre in Humagum Park also features a small summer stage for concerts and theatre performances.

Coast and Trails

The promenade in Umag connects the old town with the coastal villages. Laguna Beach is located in the Stella Maris Resort, 3 km from the centre of Umag. Laguna Stella Maris Beach can be reached by tourist train or via a bicycle rental service.

The sea near Umag is considered suitable for swimming from May to October. Laguna Beach has been awarded the Blue Flag for years; access to the water is considered easy and suitable for families with small children. Route 22 is called “Family One: Umag-Katoro-Umag”.

Umag's culinary offerings include seafood and meat specialities as well as local Istrian cuisine. In the Umag area, wineries offer tastings of Malvasia, Teran and other wines.
