Culture and History
Morosini-Grimani Castle occupies the northern side of Svetvinčenat’s main square. It is described as the best-preserved castle in Istria; its present form dates from 1589. Those wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Svetvinčenat can then continue their search for accommodation.
The Renaissance Placa preserves an authentic historic layout with the castle, the parish church, the town loggia, Renaissance houses from the 16th century and a stone cistern.
The churches of Svetvinčenat include the 12th-century Church of Saint Vincent, with three layers of wall paintings, including an extensive Romanesque fresco cycle from the late 13th century, as well as the 14th-century Church of Saint Catherine, with frescoes from the early 15th century.
