Kavran: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Kavran is situated on a plateau 150 metres above sea level, above coastal bays, and offers sea views as well as rocky beaches.

Culture

Kavran is associated with three features designated as cultural heritage: Velika Gromača, the Church of Saint Jerome, and Štacijon, an Austro-Hungarian signal station. Built in the 18th century, the Church of Saint Jerome has a single nave and features a side chapel, a sacristy, and three stone altars; its front façade has a bell tower. It was built on the site of an older church that was already mentioned in the 15th century.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, Kavran was resettled by refugees from Dalmatia and Boka Kotorska. Vela Gromača is associated with evidence of Kavran’s prehistoric settlement, including Neolithic monoliths.

Landscape and Coast

The Kavran aquatorium between Sv. Stjepan and Cape Sika is listed as a protected property. Kašalver is considered a pond in Kavran.

Školjić is a beach with small pebbles, surrounded by rock slabs with small niches offering privacy. The beach is 2.5 kilometres from Kavran. It can be reached via a local road, followed by gravel paths and a short concrete descent with rope handrails.

Nature and Activities

A snorkelling spot for exploring marine biodiversity has been designated for Kavran in Školjić Bay. Swimming is also listed as a coastal activity associated with Kavran. At Školjić Beach, there are also two underwater arches at a depth of approximately 3 metres that are easy to pass through.

Kašalver is associated with walks and recreation in Kavran.

Kavran is included in the municipal timetable of the Municipality of Marčana for journeys to and from Pula.
