Slum is home to the late Gothic Church of St. Matthew, with restored frescoes dated by a Glagolitic inscription to 1555. The scenes depicted include the Annunciation, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection and Saint George slaying the dragon. The combined depiction of Saint George and the Harrowing of Hell is considered one of only three surviving examples of its kind in Istria. The figures are painted in the Renaissance style but retain medieval iconography; the frescoes include depictions of saints and prophets. Above the present-day altar, a fresco shows God the Father holding an orb and blessing with his right hand.

The old linden tree in Slum is said to be the oldest in Istria. Next to the Church of St. Matthew, there is still a spreading linden tree with a hollow trunk. An inscription states that the church was built beside a large linden tree.

Nature

A circular hiking trail from Slum to the 1,014-metre-high summit of Žbevnica leads through mountainous landscapes with wide-ranging views, passes the eastern edge of the village of Brest and returns to Slum through the forest.

The Raspadalica launch site is suitable for launching gliders and kites. Mountain bike enthusiasts visit the Raspadalica viewpoint on Ćićarija. A pit near Slum has a vertical entrance and descends to a depth of 60 metres.

Trails

A marked hiking trail leads from Buzet railway station to the edge of the stepped plateau; from there, Slum is about two kilometres away on foot. The route from Buzet railway station to Slum can either return along the same path or form a loop via the edge of the plateau and the railway station. The trail along the edge of the plateau towards Slum offers views of Buzet, the Mirna Valley and large parts of Istria.

The Slum 2 MTB route was marked in the Municipality of Lanišće as a 23-kilometre route.
