The Church of St Matthew and St Matthias the Apostles in Cere was consecrated in 1711; the date is recorded in an inscription carved into the altar. The single-nave building was erected in 1630 on the site of an earlier church, and its vestibule was added in 1698. The church is located 5.5 kilometres southeast of the municipal centre of Žminj.

Nature and Trails
Trail 651 runs through the Cere Forest. It passes a pond and varine, large artificial pits from abandoned flint-sand mines. After leaving the forest, the trail reaches a clearing with views of the peaks of Mount Učka. Numerous older trees, predominantly cypresses, stand on the landscaped hill with the church.
Culture and Traditions
Folklorno društvo Cere includes musicians, dancers and singers; they regularly perform at folklore showcases in Istria, Croatia and abroad. Founded in 1945, the association is considered the oldest folklore society in Istria. At the association, children learn Istrian dances and songs, including the Ceranski balun.
Events
Matejeva in Cere has been held as a charity event at least eight times. Volunteers from St. Matthew Parish prepare the food for it; at one reported edition of the event, a Mass was held on Sunday, 21 September.
