Brtonigla: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The “Four Soils” experience describes Brtonigla as a meeting point of Istria’s white, grey, black and red soils. The “Four Soils” wine combines Istrian Malvasia with the town’s distinctive four-soil feature.

Culture

In the Church of St. Roch in Brtonigla, the main altar includes a carved, polychrome wooden altarpiece, which is considered one of the few surviving late Renaissance altarpieces in Istria. The altar has protected cultural heritage status. The Church of St. Roch dates from the 14th century.

The Church of St. Zenon is a 15th-century church that was rebuilt in the Neo-Baroque style in the 19th century.

Nature

The Mramornica Cave near Brtonigla, by Stancija Drušković, has a large underground chamber with colourful formations and stalagmites up to 13 metres high; it is accessible via specially arranged cave paths.

The St. Zenon hiking trail begins in Brtonigla-Verteneglio and leads to Škarline Nature Park. There, small lakes and a stream have carved a canyon towards the Mirna River. The trail takes up to two hours.

Art

The permanent collection of the Aleksandar Rukavina Gallery focuses on 37 sculptures preserved in the artist’s studio. From time to time, the gallery presents exhibitions by other artists as well as musical or literary presentations. Visits to the gallery can be arranged in advance through the tourist board.
