Karst formations and natural environment

On the northern slopes of Mount Šubir lie the Kamene kugle, designated a protected natural feature in 2011. They are silicate-carbonate nodular concretions with a laminated internal structure. Their diameter ranges from 2 to 30 cm. These specific geological characteristics make the site interesting for travellers who are curious not only about scenic landscapes but also about the composition of distinctive natural formations.

The Jezero Polje, which also extends across the Municipality of Pojezerje, contains designated habitat types: springs, as well as karst caves and sinkholes. Historic buildings include the Chapel of Our Lady of Jetera in Kobiljača, listed as a historic chapel with ZPP 2 protection status, and the parish church of St. Nicholas in Otrići, with ZPP 3 protection status. The Chapel of St. Rok is thought to date from around the 14th century; the immediate area around its location is strictly protected. Above Mali Prolog, Veliki Šubir is listed as a prehistoric fortification. These sites give visitors interested in culture several distinct historical points of reference, without forming a single shared route.

Cycling and kayaking in the Jezero Polje

Cyclists can use a network of connecting routes in the Jezero Polje to put together their own tours. The area has been mapped and fitted with specially designed signposts. Kayaking on the Matica is also available in the Jezero Polje.
