Zaprešić: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Novi Dvori estate includes the neo-Gothic Chapel of St. Joseph. The Vršilnica is also located there, one of the few surviving examples of the economic architecture of an 18th-century noble estate. The Vršilnica was completely renovated in 2018 and converted into a multimedia centre for cultural events and business meetings.

The permanent exhibition at the Brdovec Museum displays photographs and descriptions of Jelačić’s Novi Dvori in Zaprešić, as well as other estates in the region. With the exception of Lužnica, the estates depicted are not open to the public. Lužnica Castle was built in 1791 on the site of a former castle dating from the 17th century.

Nature and Trails

The Aleja leads visitors from the entrance to the Novi Dvori estate to the manor house. It is lined with a shady avenue of horse chestnut trees planted around 1890. Lužnica Castle features an English landscape park with a lake, small wooded areas and walking paths.

Lake Zajarki has a water surface of 40 hectares and contains a small island. The lake is regularly stocked, mainly with carp. A day ticket is required for fishing on the large Zajarki Lake. This day ticket must be purchased from the fisheries inspector at the fishing hut.

Activities

Beginners can attend golf school or take private lessons at Ban Jelačić Golf Club. The golf club’s junior school offers young people under the age of 18 free membership and free golf lessons. The golf centre has practice areas for short, medium and long play, as well as for finishing shots. The restaurant at the golf course serves regional specialities.

The Trajbar Team Equestrian Club runs a riding school offering riding instruction. In addition, the club has been organising national and international equestrian tournaments for several years. Every year, it offers several riding camps for girls and boys aged 6 to 16.

Events

Advent in Zaprešić takes place under the name Ledena bajka in the central town square, Trg Ivana Pavla II. It includes a large ice rink and stalls offering traditional Christmas specialities and mulled wine.

Getting There

From Zagreb, Zaprešić can be reached by the ZET Črnomerec–Zaprešić bus route or by train via the Zagreb–Varaždin and Savski Marof–Zagreb Main Station–Dugo Selo connections. Buses operated by Meštrović prijevoz also connect the surrounding municipalities.
