Culture

Pušća’s cultural heritage includes Kurija Rauch, the old school building and the late Baroque stone statue of Saint Florian. The old school building in Donja Pušća was built in 1913 and features decorative details of the late Secession.

The statue of Saint Florian in Pušća is one of the few statues still preserved in the wider Zagreb area and has cultural and historical value. It was erected in 1778 on a property belonging to the then noble Hadrovica family from Žlebec. The original is located in the Pušća Municipal Council building; a replica was erected on 13 May 1995.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Čislavska stands on the hill above the parish church in Donja Pušća and was built in the 18th or 19th century in the Baroque Classicist style. Its valuable Baroque furnishings include an altar dating from 1772.

Trails

The Church of St George stands on a plateau above Donja Pušća. It was built in the 18th century and renovated in the 19th century. From this parish church, the “Path of Life” runs along Crikveni brijeg in Pušća, following the slope to the Church of Our Lady of Čiselska. The “Path of Life” is signposted in Donja Pušća. A viewpoint was built along the “Path of Life” at the highest point of Crikveni brijeg.

A cycling and walking path about 5.8 kilometres long runs along the Lužnica stream, connecting Pušća with Zaprešić. The path is three metres wide and allows cyclists and pedestrians to pass each other in opposite directions.

The “Crvena ruta” cycling route is a 29-kilometre circular route through the Zaprešić area and combines paved and gravel surfaces.

Local traditions

Pušća is associated with a wine festival, an agricultural market and tastings of local products at the Pušćanska salamijada and špekijada.
