Samobor Old Town is a ruined castle built in 1268 by the Czech king Otokar. Its architecture evolved from Romanesque-Gothic origins through Late Gothic and Renaissance forms to a Baroque castle.

Samobor is associated with culinary traditions such as češnofka, Samobor salami, muštarda, bermet, mushroom dishes, Rudarska greblica, krafna and kremšnita. Bermet and muštarda have been associated with the town for centuries.
The traditional Samoborska kremšnita has the status of protected intangible cultural heritage. Its recipe tradition is maintained at Kavana Livadić and the U prolazu pastry shop.
