Josipovac: Holiday Apartments and Houses

A 4.8-kilometre cycling and walking path connects Josipovac with Osijek. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Josipovac has therefore chosen the town as their accommodation destination.

Getting Around

The full Osječki pješački put takes approximately three and a half hours on foot. As part of the “Stara Drava 5” project, the “Škola u prirodi” activity was carried out in Josipovac.

Nature

Stara Drava Josipovac is an oxbow lake formed from a former main channel of the Drava. The boundary of the Mura–Drava Regional Park includes the Josipovac embankment and follows this embankment near Osijek to the east and south of Stara Drava. A survey conducted in 2022 recorded 26 bird species at Stara Drava Josipovac.

Culture

The Church of Saint Joseph in Josipovac was built between 1884 and 1886. It contains three wooden altars in the Tyrolean style, made and installed by the sculptor Stefan Heidenbauer from Graz.

KUD Josipovac runs a children's programme that develops an interest in traditional heritage through dance and games. The children's programme also teaches rhythm and simple dance steps. The restored cross in Josipovac stands at the site of a former church.

Traditions

The “Kaj su jeli naši stari” event is considered a traditional gathering at which traditional cuisine and recipes passed down through generations are presented and preserved. At the Saint Joseph's Day celebration in Josipovac, stalls are traditionally set up in the town centre.
