Culture and history
The mining section of the Spomen-dom rudarstva displays coal-classification hoppers, mining tools, old photographs and documents. It also features multimedia presentations and simulated mine tunnels. Visits to the Spomen-dom rudarstva are possible by prior telephone arrangement.
The miner sculpture Rudar Ivek stands on St. Barbara Promenade as a permanent tribute to the city’s miners. Rudar Ivek is designed as an interactive experience: visitors can sit beside the figure, take photographs and read about the local mining heritage on an information panel.
The CZK Rudar regularly presents film, theatre and music programmes in Mursko Središće. Dan rudara is a traditional town event in Mursko Središće. The miners’ monument was erected in the town’s central park in 1952.
The parish church of St. Ladislaus, King, and St. Stephen dates from 1820. The group of roadside shrines dedicated to the Holy Trinity dates from 1807. Mursko Središće also hosts the traditional festival of children’s amateur theatre, “Murski patuljci”.
Nature and trails
The Mura educational walking trail was created by connecting the promenades of Sveti Martin Na Muri and Mursko Središće.
The Mura Promenade in Mursko Središće is suitable for walks and cycling tours. Its facilities include the Curek drinking-water spring, information displays and panels, sculptures, seating, a large children’s playground, a summer stage, a shelter and outdoor exercise equipment.
Panels along the Mura Trail explain the river locations of Fusek as well as the plant and animal life. Skela Fusek is designated as one of the tourism products of Mursko Središće. In the surrounding area, a ferry crossing over the Mura provides access to the natural areas of Napolitanke and Mali Balaton.

Mursko Središće lies on the Čakovec–Lendava road and railway connection.
