Ostrvica: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

History

On the hill above Ostrvica stand the remains of the medieval town of Ostrovica Lička. The town is mentioned in records from 1341 and was found in ruins after Lika was liberated from Ottoman rule.

Ostrvica is connected with two archaeological sites in Gospić: Glavičica and Ostrvica. In the Municipality of Gospić, the Lika Museum presents the permanent Terra viva archaeology exhibition, covering Lika from prehistoric times to the end of the Middle Ages. In Smiljan, within the Municipality of Gospić, the Nikola Tesla Memorial Centre opened on 10 July 2006.

Those who choose Ostrvica as their holiday destination would like to rent a holiday apartment there.

At kilometre 8, the EuroVelo 8 route reaches a paved road in Ostrvica and continues to the right. The Gospić–Lovinac cycling section runs through Ličko polje towards the area around Lovinac.
