Donji Lapac: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture

The Parish Church of St John Paul II was consecrated in 2016. It is the only church dedicated to the pope in the Diocese of Gospić-Senj and the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Rijeka.

Lapačke jeseni features exhibitions of handicrafts, agricultural products and dairy products, fruit brandies, and cakes. From 2010 onward, the festival was held annually in Donji Lapac for a limited period.

History

Donji Lapac developed as a typical small center of the Military Frontier and has the appearance of a linear settlement.

Obljaj was the site of a Roman fortress; remains of the walls were still visible there in 1835.

Landscape

Lapačko polje is a 6.8 km² karst field with Obljaj Hill at its center.

The sinking stream Kula disappears beneath Obljaj and re-emerges as Jošića potok.

Štrbački buk near Donji Štrbci in the municipality of Donji Lapac consists of several waterfalls; the largest reaches 25 meters.

Trails and excursions

The Una Educational Trail in Štrbci, within the municipality of Donji Lapac, is 2,450 meters long. Along the route through the Una River gorge, there are rest platforms, benches, information boards, and trail markers.

The Kamensko Plateau within the Plješevica range in the municipality of Donji Lapac offers opportunities for hiking and excursions. Forest roads and trails suitable for off-road cycling run through the area.
