The vocal and tamburica ensemble Tomislav was founded in 1925 and remains active today as part of KUD Tomislav. The second evening of the 19th International Folklore Festival “Iz bakine škrinje”, held in the sports hall of “Grigor Vitez” Primary School, featured folklore groups from Mexico, Chile, Slovakia, Austria and Croatia. The groups included “Bailando por Mexico”, Mahia Rapa Nui, the Hont Folklore Ensemble, Hajdenjaki and the Croatian Cultural and Educational Society “Bosiljak”; KUD “Tomislav” Sveti Ivan Žabno hosted the event. The “Svetoivanjski dani” are another feature of local festive culture: this traditional community celebration lasts three days, takes place around 24 June and includes a varied programme.
