Ribnik: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Ribnik is home to Stari grad Ribnik, a protected individual cultural asset registered under Z-301. The 13th-century fortress is described as Croatia’s only surviving lowland water-surrounded defensive castle; late Gothic and Renaissance details are visible in the castle courtyard.

Activities

The Municipality of Ribnik lists four hiking and Nordic walking routes with a total length of approximately 25 km. These include a Juraj Križanić Trail leading to the remains of the castle where Juraj Križanić was born; there are also cycling routes of varying lengths and difficulty levels. Ribnik is also associated with a motocross track. Races and freestyle motocross shows are held there at scheduled times. The wider Ribnik area is seasonally associated with swimming in the Kupa near Bogovci, collecting mushrooms and chestnuts in autumn, meadows with wild strawberries above Ribnik in late spring, and tracking wildlife or sledding in winter.

Vodenica is located in the vicinity of Ribnik and is a 538-metre-high peak associated with views over Ribnik and its surroundings. Oštrc, Oklinak, Gominec and Pleterje are located in the wider regional area around Ribnik.

In the immediate vicinity, the rustic Heart of Nature estate in Gorica Lipnička is associated with outdoor activities followed by homemade tea and strudel. The Ribnik Valley Honey Trail is an educational, ecological and recreational trail. It includes an information and sales centre, interpretation panels, 21 botanical gardens with honey plants, a rest area, a community apiary, the Juraj Križanić promenade and the apiaries of local beekeepers. Kostenjov honey is associated with local beekeeping; some beekeepers also produce medica and propolis.
