Culture and History

The medieval remains of Urvich Fortress are located near Kokalyane, approximately 1 km from the settlement. The foundations, part of a defensive tower and the fortress church of St Elijah have been preserved. A well-worn path leads from the Sofia–Samokov road to the site.

Kokalyane is served by Sofia's city bus routes 1, 3 and 4; route 1 runs through the settlement.
