Nature
The Palakaria passes through Yarlovo, rises below the Vitosha peak Kupena, and flows into the Iskar. A large part of Yarlovo’s land lies within Vitosha Nature Park. Locally, the river was known as the “Gold-bearing River”; gold panning supported several families in Yarlovo until almost the beginning of the 20th century.
Near the Sveta Petka Chapel at Babina Koria there is a spring locally described as healing. On the official Yarlovo route, Voinchinov Rid offers panoramic views in all directions.
Hiking
The official Route VIII.1 begins in the village centre, passes behind the churchyard, and runs through pine forest towards Pogledets. The official Route VIII.3 from Yarlovo to Bukapreslap and Gorna Dikania is described as a hike lasting 2 hours 55 minutes, with 140 metres of ascent and 330 metres of descent.

Culture
The Sveta Nedelya Church in Yarlovo is one of the largest churches in the Samokov area. The present church was built from 1891 to 1906 on the site of an older church.
Roman defensive fortifications have been identified in the Gradishte locality above Yarlovo. In the St Dimitar locality, less than one kilometre northwest of the village centre, stand the ruins of an old Christian church. From St Dimitar, a marked forest road leads to the Smilyo shelter, 3.5 kilometres away.
The Sveta Petka Chapel lies less than two kilometres west of the centre and can be reached by road. A Petkovden fair is held every year above Yarlovo at Babina Koria.
