The Natura 2000 habitat area “Iskar Gorge–Rzhana” includes Rashkovo. The protected Romaniya locality is located in Rashkovo and preserves a characteristic landscape. The village is laid out in an amphitheatre and is generally situated above the fog that gathers over the Botevgrad Valley.

Paths and Routes

Rashkovo is connected to Litakovo by the third-class road III-161 and is also located on the alternative Botevgrad–Mezdra road. One mountain biking route is described as a trail that leads through Botevgrad, Kraevo, Osenovlag, Eliseyna, Zverino and Rashkovo, and then back to Botevgrad.

Culture and History

The Church of the Ascension of the Lord is a single-nave building with an apse, two domes and a bell tower. A chandelier in the church was donated by Tsar Boris III. Spasovden is the church’s patronal feast.

The local community centre Saznanie 1920 was registered in 1920; its library still exists. A local history dating back to the Elinian period has been documented for Rashkovo. Local tradition dates the existence of Rashkovo to the year 1480. Rashkovo is also described as having 24 Thracian burial mounds.
