The preserved palace complex of Veliki Preslav comprises the Big Palace and the Western Palace. The Golden Church in Veliki Preslav was built during the reign of Tsar Simeon I. The ruler’s temple was discovered during excavations and connected to the ruler’s palace by a straight road measuring exactly 35 meters in length.
The Preslav Gold Treasure comprises more than 170 gold, silver, and bronze objects featuring cloisonné enamel, gemstones, and pearls. It includes 10th-century jewelry made in Constantinople and Preslav.
The Veliki Preslav Archaeological Museum presents monuments from the period before the city became a capital, from its time as a capital, and from the period afterward. The Preslav Literary School is associated with medieval literary development and the spread of the Cyrillic alphabet throughout the Slavic world. The Petrovska Kitka folklore festival is described as a northeastern center of Bulgarian folk art.
