Nature

The Razgrad observation point is located east of the village of Razgrad on the plateau in the western part of the Zlatiyata protected area. It is used for the visual observation of bird migration during the day. A total of 100 bird species have been recorded there, including 85 migratory species.

During surveys of the autumn migration, the observation point was one of two locations where the Eastern Imperial Eagle was recorded. A total of 58,324 migrating birds were registered in the area of the observation point, including 8,107 soaring birds. The observation point also has the highest recorded number of migrating White Storks in the Danubian Plain. The area around the village of Razgrad is characterized by the most intensive soaring-bird migration in the Danubian Plain.

A 2021 field survey recorded a breeding pair of White Storks between Razgrad and Valchedram near the Tsibritsa River. An observation point for the autumn migration in the area of the village of Razgrad recorded six early-migrating Black Storks on August 5, 2011.

History and Culture

The village of Razgrad in Valchedram Municipality was settled during the Ottoman period by Bulgarian immigrants from the city of Razgrad. The nearby village of Krumovo was founded around 1764 by settlers from Nish and its surrounding area. The settlements of Razgrad and Krumovo were merged into the village of Razgrad in 1955.

The municipal center in the village of Razgrad is located on the second floor of a former agricultural complex building that later became municipal property.

A main road runs through the villages of Zlatiya and Razgrad in Valchedram Municipality. There are two bridges in the village of Razgrad, including one over the Tsibritsa River.
