History

The historic route of the united bands of Haji Dimitar and Stefan Karadja passes through Vranilovtsi. The route documents the bands’ passage through Vranilovtsi after the Battle of Kanlydere on 9 July 1868, before they fought their final battle at Buzludzha. The historic route through Vranilovtsi has been marked with special signs; on 7 July 2023, 18 new signs for this route were installed in Vranilovtsi.

Vranilovtsi lies in a broad valley between the Chernovrashki mountain ridge and the Strazhata Plateau. The Shavarna River is located in the area of Vranilovtsi.

Geographical Setting

Republican Road II-44 between Sevlievo and Gabrovo runs along the northern edge of Vranilovtsi. In Vranilovtsi, Republican Road III-4402 branches off from II-44 southwards towards Raynovtsi, Smilovtsi and Gabene.

The Gabrovo tourism area provides access to the protected Lyulyatsite area with hiking connections, the Etar Open-Air Ethnographic Museum, which focuses on crafts and traditional cuisine, as well as the Gradishte eco-trail and the late antique fortress.
