Yaylata contains prehistoric cave dwellings and Thracian tombs. A cave settlement with 101 dwellings was already inhabited in the fifth millennium BC. Three necropolises with family tombs are carved into the cliffs and date from the third to the fifth century. Other ancient remains include ancient cellars, a sanctuary, sacrificial stones, wine-making facilities, and four tombs carved into the rock. Yaylata also includes a fortified wall. Stone icons and crosses are engraved on the cave walls. A small Early Byzantine fortress was built at the end of the fifth century.
Nature
More than 178 bird species breed in Yaylata or pass through it on their way to the African coast to spend the winter. In Kamen Bryag, challenging routes are used by sport climbers.
