Culture

The Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Ognyanovo is a three-nave pseudo-basilica sunk into the ground. It was painted in the 19th century by Dimitar Molerov. The traditional patronal celebration for the Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God is described as a two-day event held around 15 August, with concerts and wrestling matches.

The ruins of Nicopolis ad Nestum are about a 15-minute drive from the Ognyanovo mineral baths. Nicopolis ad Nestum is one of the few surviving ancient cities in Bulgaria and the only city from the Roman period in the Rhodope Mountains. The Ognyanovo mineral baths are associated with the remains of an ancient Roman fortress.

The Ognyanovo–Leshten cycling route is 15.6 km long and is rated low both in terms of technical difficulty and physical exertion. The Ognyanovo–Kovachevitsa mountain biking route is 27.4 km long, can begin in Ognyanovo, and follows the Kanina Valley.
