Holiday apartment in Zenica: Culture, History and Mountains
Zenica combines historic sites with mountain landscapes and cultural offerings. Vranduk Fortress Vranduk is a hilltop fortress that has preserved its original forms despite later alterations and contains archaeological finds from the Middle Ages and the Ottoman period. Another historical trace leads to the Bilinopolje Declaration: it was signed on 8 April 1203 at Bilino Polje near Zenica and is considered an important historical source for understanding the religious and political circumstances in medieval Bosnia.
Culture and History
The Zenica City Museum is a public institution with archaeological, historical, and ethnological collections. In the new museum building, it includes archaeological, historical, ethnological, and numismatic exhibitions, as well as a contemporary media collection. This brings different historical periods and several forms of cultural heritage together. Vranduk also features archaeological and historical exhibitions spread over several floors, as well as a forge.
Architecture and art add further highlights. The building of the Bosnian National Theatre Zenica received the 1979 annual award from the newspaper “Borba” for the best architectural achievement in Bosnia and Herzegovina, followed by the annual award for the best architectural achievement in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Kamberovića Field is adorned with specially made steel sculptures created during the Zenička Art Colony in the 1980s.
