Culture
The Neolithic site of Zbilje extends across a large area on the elevated river terraces. Around 344 medieval tombstones, known as Stećci, have been recorded in necropolises in the municipality of Visoko. Zbilje is one of the settlements in the Visoko area where medieval funerary monuments, known as Stećci, have been recorded, and one of the places in the Visoko area with a necropolis of such tombstones.
The pottery from the archaeological site is also described in detail: it contains a high proportion of fine ceramics as well as black and grey surface decoration and typological connections to Lisičić and northeastern Bosnia. These characteristics of Zbilje pottery point to parallel developments in Obre II associated with the final phase of the Butmir culture. In addition, the Neolithic site of Zbilje displays Vinča characteristics, particularly those of the Vinča-Pločnik phase.
