Transinne: Space, Village History and Walking Trails
Accommodation in Transinne
In Transinne, space research, traces of the village’s history and walking trails appeal to a range of interests. The Euro Space Center focuses on science, while historic buildings and memorial sites tell other stories about the place. When planning a trip, you can decide which themes to prioritise, depending on whether discovery, architectural history or outdoor activities are your main focus.
Space Research and Discovery
The Euro Space Center is a scientific discovery centre dedicated to space research, located in Transinne. You can take a walk in Cosmic Valley and learn more about the means of communication and transport used in space. The centre’s offerings thus combine an exploration of space research with a walk offering insights into space technology.
If you are travelling by car, the Euro Space Center is accessible via exit 24 on the E411. Check road conditions before setting off. If you would like to make space-related topics a focus of your stay, you can take this travel information into account when planning your trip.
Architectural History and Memorial Sites
The church in Transinne was built in 1844 using rubble masonry of shale sandstone and limestone. The church also houses a fragment of an altarpiece dating from around 1700, depicting a scene from the life of Saint Martin. Its construction date and materials offer a tangible impression of its architecture; the altarpiece fragment adds a religious artwork with a longer history.
Place aux Canons was first laid out for patriotic celebrations in 1922. Its symbolic features include German 105 mm M 04 cannon barrels. The site thus combines a clearly identified historical occasion with a visible reminder in the form of the cannon barrels.
Around Place aux Canons are numerous low, sturdy farmhouses with broad half-timbered gables, once covered with wattle and daub. One of the oldest farmhouses dates from the late 18th century and is easily recognised by its plank cladding. Just outside the village, the municipal school was built in 1868; its monumental architecture is typical of the 19th century.
The “Grande Fontaine” is also part of the village’s built history: the “de la Grande Fontaine” washing and livestock watering basin dates from 1862 and was recently restored. The church, farmhouses, school and basin offer different points of interest if you are curious about architectural styles and the former uses of buildings.
Walks and Route Options
A walk in Bois des Minières offers a viewpoint overlooking the quarry and several former iron ore pits. The ore from the pits was destined for the blast furnaces at Neupont and Marsolle. Here, landscape and industrial history can be explored together: the viewpoint looks out over the quarry, while the former pits recall past ore extraction.
The Promenade de Châmont starts at the square in Transinne and is 8.4 km long. The “Les Voies d’Antan” walk is 10.0 km long and starts at the Euro Space Center. Seasonal forestry restrictions may apply to these two municipally listed routes; check the conditions before setting off.
The “Le Relais des Diligences” walk starts in Transinne and is an easy, accessible circular route for everyone, covering 4.3 km. The route was updated on 1 April 2026. At 4.3 km, this loop is the shortest of the three routes mentioned; the other two are 8.4 and 10.0 km long. The shorter loop is also described as circular, easy and accessible.
Plan Your Stay Around Your Interests
For a trip focused on space research, the Euro Space Center and a walk in Cosmic Valley offer suitable activities. If you would rather explore historic architecture and memorial sites, you can visit the church, Place aux Canons, the farmhouses, the school and the “Grande Fontaine”. The walks add landscape and the history of former iron ore extraction to the options. When looking for a holiday rental in Transinne, you can first consider which of these aspects of the village you would like to shape your trip.
