The Watermill Route offers a clear focus for exercise and changing impressions. It passes 8 of the 13 watermills located in the territory of Maaseik. On the Stadswal, you can walk along the fortifications and experience the historic character of the city from a different perspective.

The cultural walk “Van Eyck in Maaseik” also combines movement and art. The route passes three impressive murals created as part of the “Van Eyck goes Graffiti” project. You can reach another artwork, “Echoes of a Landscape”, via the path along the dyke beneath the Maas Bridge in the direction of Aldeneik. After about 500 m, it is on the left-hand side. Those looking for a more active excursion can take part in an introductory water-skiing session at WAP Maaseik on the first Saturday of each month.

In Neeroeteren, all walking loops from the car park at Ketelstraat pass the Bergerven viewpoint. This starting point complements the city’s cultural attractions with another opportunity to spend a day of your holiday following a route and visiting a viewpoint.

The ontdekkingskelder at the Regionaal Archeologisch Museum offers 17 different hands-on activities through which history can be experienced in a playful way.
