Discover Lint: Trails, Parkland and Family Experiences
Lint combines varied trails, cultural and historic landscapes, and family-friendly discoveries to create a versatile destination. Anyone looking for a holiday apartment or holiday home in Lint can plan their stay entirely around their own interests: with a longer hike, an accessible walking route, a visit to historic sites or an experience for curious children.
Hiking trails with different focuses
One specific option for active days is the Eugeen Goeyvaerts wandelpad. The trail is 7 km long and can be extended to 9.5 km. It starts at the main entrance to the municipal park on Koning Albertstraat. The route is fully signposted with hexagonal signs bearing the coat of arms of Lint and a black directional arrow. This makes it possible to explore the route using clearly recognisable trail markers.
Lint currently also has two signposted running routes, measuring 5 km and 7 km respectively. This choice is suitable for trip planning where the desired route length is a factor. Those who want to get to know the Luitersheide landscape can take the Laarzenpad Lint-Hove, a trail through woods, wet valley areas, fields, gardens and meadows. The trail runs along the connection between Boshoek and Luitersheide on the border between Hove and Lint.
Boots are recommended for the Laarzenpad Lint-Hove. The trail is not accessible to wheelchairs or pushchairs. This information is important when selecting the right activity for your travel group. Another option is the 3.2 km-long Tour Elentrik walking route, which is accessible to wheelchairs, pushchairs, bicycles and scooters. Tour Elentrik passes 10 decorated utility boxes in Lint, offering not only exercise but also distinctive sights along the route.
Parkland and historic features
Park van Lint is a protected cultural and historic landscape; this protection has been in place since 9 February 1994. Shortly after 1923, the park was laid out in the English landscape style around Kasteel Lindenhof, the neoclassical castle that was also built at that time. Kasteel Lindenhof includes a rectangular gatekeeper's lodge, an L-shaped coach house and an orangery. Those interested in historic buildings, park design and architectural details can make this part of Lint a separate focus of their trip planning.
Other cultural and historic highlights include the Oorlogsmonument Lint. It consists of a bronze figure of a standing soldier on a tall plinth made of blue hardstone, bearing inscriptions. The stained-glass window “The Last Supper” can also be found in the Parochiekerk Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Geboorte. It was removed after the former Sint-Laurentiuskerk in Antwerp was demolished in 1932–1933, transferred to Lint and restored in 2003.
Ideas for families and curious children
The Zuidrand-wandelapp was specifically developed for families with inquisitive children aged 5 to 13. Since October 2022, the app has offered a new Zuidrand puzzle in Lint. This allows a walk to be enhanced with a shared discovery idea, without the trip having to focus exclusively on a single attraction.
During the spring and autumn school holidays, Cinema Olympia shows family films. The cinema presents its films in an authentic atmosphere. In this way, alongside hiking routes and historic sites, Lint can also offer an activity for shared family time. Depending on the time of year and your interests, this can add a cultural experience to a day outdoors.
Which type of stay suits you?
A holiday apartment in Lint can serve as a base for different travel plans: for longer routes such as the Eugeen Goeyvaerts wandelpad, for the Luitersheide landscape, for historic discoveries around Park van Lint or for activities aimed at families with children. When making your choice, pay particular attention to which activities are important to your travel group and whether the respective routes have the accessibility features you need. For further orientation, you can also discover Mechelen, Aartselaar, Berlaar, Balen, Hoogstraten, Zandhoven, Oud-Turnhout and Westerlo.
