Burnosy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

On the right bank of the Neman near Burnosy lies an oak woodland covering more than two hectares and containing at least 100 large oak trees. Individual pedunculate oaks reach heights of 30–40 metres and circumferences of 2–3 metres. The woodland comprises several vegetation layers, including oak, lime, ash, maple and aspen, as well as dense shrub undergrowth. Wild boar and foxes live in the oak woodland; woodpeckers, nightingales and eagle owls breed there.

Neman Route

On the Neman Route, after a 30 km downstream raft trip from Nikolaevo, you reach an oak woodland between Burnosy and Vasilevichi in Lida District.

From the stop on the Neman Route in the Burnosy area, forest paths lead to a beaver habitat with beaver burrows, lodges and dams. This stop also includes a walk to a unique juniper grove.

Culture and History

A well-preserved field bunker is located in the forest outside Burnosy. In the Upper Neman area, Burnosy is one of the sites where flint chopping tools with features of the Globular Amphora culture have been found.

Burnosy is the first village on the right bank of the Neman where the group goes ashore. On the Neman Route, the village of Dokudovo in Lida District follows the stop in the Burnosy area as the next route point; 5 km remain to be covered by raft to reach it.
