Pripyatsky National Park extends across Zhitkovichi District and preserves a largely natural forest and wetland landscape in the Pripyat floodplain. It includes former river channels, meanders, and numerous sand islands. Those wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Zabroddzie can then continue their search for accommodation.
Nature
The Pripyat floodplain is described as a habitat for 256 bird species; 65 of these species are listed in the Red Book of Belarus.
Pripyatsky National Park is used for recreation and ecological tourism. Traditional local activities include gathering berries and mushrooms, beekeeping, hunting, and fishing.
Culture
Pripyatsky National Park contains archaeological sites and early feudal burial mounds. Old wooden churches have been preserved in the surrounding villages. The nature museum displays historical artefacts, an ethnographic exhibition, seasonal landscapes of Polesia, and local everyday life.
Geographical Setting
Zhitkovichi has a railway station on the Gomel–Luninets line; roads connect the town with Brest and Kalinkovichi. Zabrod’ye was incorporated into Zhitkovichi in 2014.
