The Wolfsegg Peace Trail offers a concrete reason to take in Manning’s landscape mindfully. The 8.5 km route leads from Wolfshütte near Manning to the Peace Museum in Wolfsegg. It starts at the Peace Cross on the hill in Wolfshütte. Along the way, varied open countryside, dark forests and small villages alternate. Numerous benches and beautiful views are also among its described features. When visibility is good, the view stretches over Bach and Schwanenstadt to the Ötscher in Lower Austria.

The Ottnanger Redl also shapes the area’s geography: it flows through the municipality of Manning from north to south. This brings two different landscape perspectives together: the river’s course through the municipality and the Peace Trail, with its changing scenery. Those who enjoy spending time outdoors will find a described route with specific stops and views, without reducing the landscape to a single feature.

The Peace Trail and Historic Sites

At the edge of the forest, the Manning Hunting Club’s chapel stands directly on the Peace Trail. It is also known as the Jägerkapelle in Schachen/Manning. Another chapel commemorates a personal tragedy: the Kreutherer Chapel was built in 1766 in memory of farmer Balthasar Humer, who died in an accident. Its origins connect the site with a commemoration from the 18th century recorded by name.

At the Bucherhof, the farm museum displays harvest and agricultural tools, equipment for making cider, blacksmithing tools and old household items from farming families. The objects offer different ways to explore everyday life on a farm in the past: working on the farm, making cider, crafts and domestic life. The old Bucherhof farm was first mentioned in 1449. This early reference and the museum collection are two distinct starting points for exploring the Bucherhof and the history of agriculture.

The GUSTO Ranch offers another perspective: hikers on horseback and carriage drivers are welcome there.

What suits your trip?

The places described appeal to different interests: the Peace Trail combines a longer route with landscape impressions and views; the farm museum focuses on tools and aspects of rural life; and the chapels add their own historical notes. If you are travelling with children, these themes can offer different opportunities for conversation and discovery.

When planning a holiday apartment or holiday home, you can first consider what you would like to focus on during your stay: the route to Wolfsegg, the history of the Bucherhof or the landscape around the Ottnanger Redl. This lets you tailor your search for a suitable place to stay to the interests of your travel group. Manning is the destination to search for the local attractions featured here; decide for yourself which of them matter to your plans.
