Turm 9 is also called “Apollonia” and is one of a total of 32 towers that were once built as a defensive system around Linz. The historical context can be supplemented by further buildings: 44er Haus was built in 1831/32 as the third schoolhouse in Leonding. The Old Parish Church bears traces of various architectural styles. The New Parish Church is octagonal; its altar is located beneath a skylight dome in the centre. An octagonal glass pyramid directs the light onto this centrally positioned altar. Kürnberg Castle was first mentioned in 1286.

Market, Events and Art

For culinary discoveries, the Leonding weekly market offers regional fruit and vegetables, savoury specialities, homemade delicacies and other farm products. Rufling Dorfstadl serves as a venue for youth, cultural and traditional events. Since KUVA was founded in 2014, the 44er Gallery has hosted diverse exhibitions of contemporary art from the region and beyond.
