Discover Ainet from several distinct perspectives: its historic churches, the Jakob Gliber Sculpture Trail and a natural monument. For hiking plans, the Iseltrail and the Hochschober Hut offer two very different options. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, your preferred focus for the trip can guide your decision: local history and art offer a different emphasis from a longer marked route or a mountain destination. The search for a suitable base therefore begins with the question of which experiences you want to shape your stay.

Churches and Sculptures in Ainet

Ainet's parish church was built in 1778/79; the small Church of St Ulrich is first mentioned in 1614. These dates mark two different historical reference points: the parish church date concerns its construction, while the date for the small church refers to its first recorded mention. If you want to learn about Ainet's history, it is worth keeping these dates distinct rather than reading both as construction years.

The Jakob Gliber Museum is located in Ainet's municipal building. The Jakob Gliber Sculpture Trail has seven stops; the “Grieving Angel” in the church square is the fifth, while the Stations of the Cross models make up the seventh and final stop. The shared name Jakob Gliber thus connects a museum location with a numbered series of art stops. The church square places the angel in a specific location, while the museum is housed in the municipal building; you can therefore explore the art theme through either a single work or the entire series.

Nature and Hiking

Ainet's natural monument offers a different focus: it consists of a group of trees comprising sycamore maples, Norway spruces and Norway spruces. Moving from churches and sculptures to a named group of trees broadens the focus from architectural and art history to nature. If you want to consider a range of themes rather than just one attraction when choosing destinations, this offers a distinct option.

Two different scales are useful for hiking enthusiasts. The Iseltrail is a continuously marked hiking route with a total length of 73.7 kilometres. The Hochschober Hut is a base for climbing Hochschober, which is 3,242 metres high. The distance in kilometres and the summit elevation describe different aspects of a tour: the first gives the length of a marked route, while the second gives the mountain's elevation. When narrowing down your options, the key question is whether you would rather follow a long route or head for a specific summit.
