Culture between Mathias Schmid and cable-car history

The Mathias Schmid Museum is dedicated to the painter Mathias Schmid and includes an original Mathias Schmid parlour dating from 1851. The Antonius Chapel in Versahl is another special historical destination: it was built around 1630 as a plague chapel and enlarged in 1673.

Several clearly distinct activities are available for special experiences. The Ischgl SKYFLY zipline is two kilometres long, runs through the Kitzloch Gorge and reaches a maximum speed of 85 km/h. Vider Truja on the Idalp is located at an altitude of 2,320 metres and has a bouldering facility with 35 routes of varying difficulty. Vider Truja can be reached within a few minutes from the mountain stations of the Silvrettabahn A1 and Fimbabahn A3.

The Ischgl archery course offers 28 different 3D woodland animal targets. It can be reached by taking the Silvretta or Fimba cable car to the middle station and then walking for around 20 minutes in the direction of the Heidelberger Hütte. The night toboggan run in Ischgl covers seven kilometres and 950 metres of elevation through the wintry landscape into the valley. The activities therefore differ significantly in terms of time of day, terrain and the desired pace of the experience.

Relaxation and longer excursions

The Silvretta Spa offers more than 1,000 square metres of water area for swimming, relaxing and unwinding. In addition, there is a 1,500-square-metre sauna area. This may be a consideration when planning accommodation if a quieter day is planned alongside physical activity.

Anyone looking for a longer challenge can take on the Smuggler's Tour, a 61.8-kilometre route with up to 13,740 metres of elevation gain. It runs between Ischgl in Paznaun and the Swiss village of Samnaun in the Engadin region, within the Silvretta Arena. Depending on the focus, travel planning can therefore range from individual experiences in the area to an extensive route through several landscapes.
