Discover Rinn: Hiking, Winter and Culture

Rinn lies southeast of Innsbruck at the foot of the Patscherkofel. The village combines paths through forests and meadows with winter sports, golf and a multifaceted church and local history. This allows you to shape your trip in very different ways: actively on a hike to the Rinner Alm, on the cross-country ski trail or toboggan run, culturally in Rinn and Judenstein, or by focusing on golf and mountain landscapes.

Hiking to the Rinner Alm

A particularly clear choice for an active day is the hike from Rinn to the Rinner Alm. It begins just beyond the golf club and leads steadily uphill through the forest. The ascent to the Rinner Alm toboggan run begins at the southern edge of Rinn. At the Rinner Alm, hikers can enjoy regional delicacies for refreshment during their hike. The Speckbacherweg passes the golf course in Rinn and adds another option for experiencing the landscape on foot.

If you choose your holiday apartment according to your planned activities, you can initially organise the trip around your preferred daily rhythm: the Rinner Alm represents a steady ascent through the forest, while the Speckbacherweg takes the golf course as a prominent waypoint. Winter experiences in Rinn

In winter, Rinn offers several different options. The Rinner Alm toboggan run is 4 km long and leads back into the valley along the same route. The ascent follows a separate, wide winter hiking trail that is separate from the toboggan run. This means that the ascent and the toboggan route stand alongside each other as distinct elements of winter planning.

The Archenstadllift Rinn is a ski area for children and beginners. It includes a Snow & Fun Park with varied obstacles designed specifically for children. The Panorama cross-country ski trail starts opposite the car park of the Archenstadllift Rinn and runs along sunny meadows towards Judenstein. It has both a diagonal track and a skating track. The Golf cross-country ski trail partly runs across the grounds of the golf course in Rinn. In addition, Schneeschmelzgaudi is a recurring event in the Tyrolean late winter and has become an established part of Rinn.

Golf and mountain views

The 18-hole golf course of the Innsbruck Golf Club in Rinn is located on the sunny slopes of the Glungezer. From there, panoramic views of the Nordkette extend from the Wetterstein massif across the Northern Limestone Alps to the mountain range of the Wilder Kaiser. Anyone wishing to combine a trip with golf and mountain landscapes will find an independent focus here alongside hiking and winter sports. Churches, history and Judenstein

Culture also makes Rinn a place with special reasons to visit. The parish church of St. Andrew the Apostle in Rinn is protected as a historic monument by ordinance. It is a Rococo church with ceiling paintings by the Giner brothers. The War Memorial Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows on the Rinnerberg is also protected as a historic monument.

In Judenstein, the pilgrimage church of the Visitation of Mary is protected as a historic monument on the basis of an official decision pursuant to Section 3. The church was built in 1670 by Dr Guarinoni. Its history also includes the plaques previously installed in the pilgrimage church, which document the development of the Church's engagement with this chapter of local and ecclesiastical history. An information board in the entrance area explains the origin and spread of the so-called ritual murder legend and places it in its historical and theological context. It makes clear that the story of the ritual murder of a child by Jewish merchants is historically unfounded and constitutes an antisemitic prejudice. The church in Judenstein also contains a stone intended to serve as a sign of atonement and forgiveness towards Judaism.

Market and further travel ideas

The Christmas market in Judenstein traditionally takes place on the second Sunday of Advent in the square in front of the church in Judenstein, Rinn. Traders and farmers from Rinn offer agricultural products there; Kiachln and Zillertaler Krapfen are also available. For a trip during Advent, this date is therefore a specific cultural focal point, while the hiking and winter activities appeal to other seasons and interests.
