This tradition represents a form of cultural life closely connected with the villages and Slovenian song heritage.

The more recent history is also present in the village landscape. The memorial to the deportation of Carinthia’s Slovenes was erected in 1996 in front of the cultural center in Radsberg/Radiše. From April 1942 onward, Slovenian-speaking families in southern Carinthia were taken from their homes in several operations. After a stop at the Ebenthal/Žrelec collection camp in Klagenfurt, they were deported to various forced labor camps. Those visiting Radsberg can therefore combine the region’s cultural traditions with a conscious engagement with its history.

Hiking and Elevation Differences

For active days, the “Radsberg – Northern Loop” hike offers a specific way to get to know the surrounding area. The route leads via Höflein Moor and Moosberg to Radsberg and then through the Gurnitz Gorge.
